Before a strategy, comes the full diagnosis
The absence of a sitemap was the first sign of a site that had never been built with search in mind. Google was discovering pages inconsistently — some indexed, some not, no clear priority signal. Combined with 404 errors and failing speed scores, the technical layer was actively suppressing rankings across every page on the site.
Key service pages — auto, home, commercial, life, health insurance — were severely under-developed. Limited word counts, no structured headings, no FAQ content, and no geographic relevance signals. For a broker covering the full state of Texas representing 80+ carriers, the content barely scratched the surface of what Google needed to understand and rank the site.
Internal linking was almost entirely absent — pages existed independently with no hierarchy or authority flow between them. Externally, the backlink profile was minimal with insufficient referring domain diversity to compete against established Dallas insurance competitors who had been building authority for years.
Dallas and the surrounding DFW metro area represent enormous search volume for insurance services. Zero local city pages existed — no neighbourhood or suburb-specific pages, no local schema. The firm was completely invisible in the location-modified searches most likely to convert into clients. Every missing page was a missed booking.
